Nothing. When it comes, I will recognize HIM. A person has to be willing and able to take HUGE risks emotionally. I crave intimacy and being ONE in a healthy, but unique kind of way. I need laughter, but not mockery or ridicule. I need Patience, and not tolerance. I need long-suffering, but not weakness.
LAUGH ANYWAY by Soulbalm
Shell too snug so I finally ventured out
See the world, find adventure and fortune
Left the shell in sand buried
Like the stories of a distant past
Or the remnants of an ancient civilization
For someone who had archaeological dreams
To happen upon and ponder the former me
Meanwhile I spread my soul in thin sheets
And held them to the breeze
The moody winds tossed them to and fro
And experience and fresh air led to the
The me I now Know
Somehow that left me unfulfilled
As knowing myself planted seeds
And I needed those young buds to yet grow
And my progeny clarified the need
For my healing and need to continue to sow
If only someone could see me
If only I could learn to love someone
Someone being me
In all my forms and in the me I could see
In all of my progeny
In all of the souls I meet
And have that someone learn to love me back
And souls find love to spare to give freely
Alas, the courage that is required for that!
The insight and desire divided by a personal yearning
For revelation
To appear naked before someone and expect
Them not to run, but to strip down and bare all
In return
It's not a natural inclination, to reveal and seek revelation.
So I bask in the closest imitation, waiting, left wanting
For love's elevation
My pain I welcome
Rain drops of broken glass and rage
Snow flakes of frosty passion
I welcome
I smile inside at false-won pride and
Chuckle within at the irony of life
What formerly brought tears and confusion
Serve now to amplify and magnify love's illusion
Humans are barely a step above the other primates
When it comes to understanding and giving Love
We show concern--or rather speak of it
We act benevolently when believing a
Benefit exists
And take risks
For our own
But probably in part to avoid a future alone
Smart we are, so smart we're lost
Wanting vainly to build a kingdom
Before counting the cost
Expecting our needs to be as important to another
As they are to ourselves
When we don't prioritize for others
Humor in the darkness still brings forth light
And Love in spite of life dispels long, dire nights
The wisdom is the nerve to laugh anyway
When it hurts, when there's smoke and fire burns
Until most coveted hope fades away
Laugh
Because if you wait until that brighter moment
And blessed day
Maybe no one will ever get to share your mirth
Or hear your voice's tinkling itch before
You leave for home forevermore
Laugh
In the face of the critical moment defining your joy
In the devastation of your failure
In the aftermath of wrath and rage
Turn the page
And laugh anyway
Not with bitterness, malice, or sass
But in knowledge that "This Too Shall Pass"
