When I was a little kid, a preschooler, I had a friend down my street. She and I would sit on the kerb on a hot day and pop tar bubbles – just for fun. That was before all the so-called serious stuff of adulthood. I’m not looking for a glamour queen with a focus on her own collagen – but for someone to sit on the kerb with and stare at a patch of that immense blue up there, to wonder at all the shades of green out there and to pop tar bubbles together! I want to be with someone less into the institution of Christianity (with its history more chequered than a chess board) and more into the gutsy Jesus of Nazareth. I’m in no hurry. I will wait for someone who’s into hearing and understanding, not just talking; into connecting deeply, not just co-existing; into cuddling the soul as well as the body! Now that’s a dream worth keeping alive!
