Me describiría a mi mismo como
I am a kind-hearted person and hence, I value kindness above all else in a partner. Although, if you're a blonde mountain biking supermodel that would certainly be a bonus! Seriously though, kindness and honesty are where it's at.
I am honest and shy among strangers. I'm not into fashion although I'm happy for a partner to spend money looking good.
I enjoy being a little bit different - even more so than my other intellectual engineering friends. Life with me would not be about one-upping the neighbours, taking over the family business, buying a middle-class house in the suburbs and joining the golf club - unless nobody else was doing those things! I firmly believe that people should strive to become more interesting as they get older, not the other way around. After all, with age comes knowledge, skill, wisdom, and money - why waste all that settling down and starting families like the previous generation did?
I would class myself as a casual greenie, i.e., I recycle, use fabric supermarket bags, bike when the weather is fine, and am carbon neutral. I would hope to have a partner appreciative of the world's pollution and energy issues and try to achieve sustainable living where convenient without getting too extreme about it. If you don't know much about this kind of thing but are willing to learn, that's cool too.
I'm not particularly interested in travel (although I have visited a handful of foreign countries when attending conferences) as I see it as poor value financially and very hard on the planet. My dream home would be an ultra-modern high rise apartment in the city (the most sustainable form of urban living). However, I work in the Christchurch suburbs doing energy research engineering so that is where I currently flat and can't see that changing any time soon. I currently have the perfect job and a very stress-free lifestyle and would be quite happy living in Christchurch for ever. I like to keep the house clean (I'm easily the tidiest of my 3 flatmates) and modern. I'm not particularly interested in gardening although I appreciate a nice-looking garden if the property has one.
I'm looking for either a partner with similar interests to share activities with or equally good would be a partner who was happy to let me go off and do things alone. I enjoy mountainbiking, tramping and orienteering. However, these are only some of my many hobbies and I only get out a few times per month so am not looking for a SUPER KEEN outdoors person. Indoors I enjoy TV, movies, video games, and board games. I like learning and often attend public lectures and talks about topical events in our world. I also like working on projects in my shed (I am currently building an electric car) but I don't expect a partner to be very interested in that! I am also considering, this year, volunteering to be part of a construction project to install a solar powered water pump in a remote village in Tonga (yeah, I know I said I'm not really into travel but I can be persuaded if it's for a good cause). I also enjoy the occasional restaurant dinner, drinks with friends etc. I am fascinated by human behaviour and how it influences our lives - identifying the ridiculousness in life's people/politics/decisions etc and appreciating genuine cleverness when it oh-so-rarely occurs. If your favourite TV shows include Simpsons, Daily Show, 7 days, etc, and you appreciate the social commentary of Monty Python then you probably think along similar lines. Must love cats.
I was raised Anglican and although me and my family's church-going has lapsed, I would prefer to have a Christian partner (fairly flexible as to your definition here) and would not mind a regular church-goer.
Finally I should mention my 2 absolutes: No kids or dancing. Seriously I don't have the patience to be a good parent (I think it's unfair to bring up a kid if you aren't going to give it 100%) and there are too many people on the planet already. And dancing is just pointless.
