This story describes me:
It's Saturday morning and the weather is sunny and warm. Grandma took the kids for the weekend and we have the house to ourselves. You suggest that we hop in the car and drive to DC. I find a great rate on a hotel near a metro stop online. We act like we've never been to DC before and do the touristy things. We eat at a jazz club in Georgetown. We find a church to go to on Sunday morning. We walk along the Mall and watch people flying kites and playing frisbee with their dogs. When we reach the Lincoln Monument, I stand with my back to you and my head on your chest and marvel at the size of the monument. We stand in silence when we get to the Vietnam War Memorial and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. How many people truly realize that "Freedom is not Free"? On the drive back you talk about what you enjoyed about the weekend and you listen intently to me. When we get home we spend the last couple of hours curled up on the couch watching the football game before the kids and Grandma get home. Wow - what a weekend.
